Northern Tier Trek
June 23-July 3, 2012
It is time to start planning for this adventure! This is one of those "adventures of a lifetime". We have filled two crews, but if you wish to be wait-listed contact Mr. Kenney jaxbikerider@gmail.com soon to get on board. Each crew will have two Adult Leaders and six Scouts.
Crew Preparation Calendar
We'll plan some Crew Meetings, Skills Sessions, and Shakedown Cruises to prepare for this Trek of a Lifetime. Keep checking back here for updates!
  • Crew Meetings
    • November 15, 2011, 7:00 PM, during the Troop meeting, Parents required
    • More meetings will be scheduled
  • Payment Schedule: The total cost of the trip is estimated to be $1,500 - 1,600 per person. Below is the payment schedule, payable to "BSA Troop 35" and delivered to Troop Treasurer Sheila Andersen.
    • September 30, 2011 - $200.00
    • December 10, 2011 - $400.00
    • February 10, 2012 - $400.00
    • April 10, 2012 - $400.00
    • There is potential for adjustments down or up depending on final transportation costs
  • April, 2012 - BSA Medical Form due to David Kenney
  • June 23, 2012 - July 3, 2012: Canoe Trek at Northern Tier Adventure Base
Quick Bits of Information
  • This will be a Troop 35 Contingent! Crews E062412N (Crew "N") and E062412O (Crew "O")
  • We are reserved for TWO CREWS (6 Scouts, 2 Scouters each crew) for June 23-July 3, 2012.
  • Participants must be a registered Boy Scout, Varsity Scout, or Venturer.
  • Participants must be at least 13 years of age by December 31st of the year they are attending.
  • Participants must be classified as a “swimmer” on the swim test classification sheet
  • You will need a passport!! We will be travelling into Canada and returning to the US. NO EXCEPTIONS
  • This takes A LOT OF PREPARATION, both physically and logistically, but it is WORTH IT!
  • Participants must be able to carry a 85-pound canoe or 80-pound kitchen box about a mile overland
  • This can be expensive: history indicates more than $1,600 per person , so SELL A LOT OF POPCORN!
  • We need a verbal and financial commitment to hold your spot, so sign up soon.
    A $100 deposit by June 30, 2011 is required.
  • We'll be in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness
